Graduation 2008

I can hardly believe Blan has had his last day of preschool. Where has this most precious time gone? I look back with tender memories of a baby who has grown into a smart, funny, energetic, compassionate little boy and I am so thankful God chose me to be his mother. What a gift! I know I will cherish these days.

What a difference nine months make. From the 1st day of preschool to the last week.

Whew!

We have had one busy month. Here's an attempt to catch you up....

We had a great time visiting with our friends, Kelton and Danielle and their kids, Cole and Emery.

Blan made his special brownies from his own cookbook for the occasion. The child LOVES to be in the kitchen.

Then there was the Saturday morning we got up early to go strawberry picking with Poppie. Blan kept eating his pickings there in the field. They were the best strawberries I can ever remember eating.

Blan finally picked up swinging! He's never really been interested until now.

The Fantastic Four, I mean a small section of the church preschool choir wrapping up their year. I can tell you that we may be up for the AFV $10K prize after watching the video. It's a scream!!! Stay tuned.

Mighty Mites Soccer, Season 3

Another season (and our last) of Mighty Mites. Difference is this time Blan figured it out: ball contact is somewhat essential in the game. Boy, was Coach Daddy ever happy!

Baa Moo Farm

We made our last field trip of the year to Baa Moo Farm just north of Statesville. The kids enjoyed a tractor-pulled wagon ride, feeding the animals, gathering eggs from the chicken coup, and Blan even got to milk Buttercup, the cow. He loved it and told me when we left that we wanted to be a "farmer teacher" when he grows up. It was a perfect day capped off with a picnic with good friends.

The return of warm weather means two things to my child - the "pool with the big sprinklers" and putt-putt. We got to take advantage of opening weekend at the putt-putt course recently.

A Day in the Sun

I'm not real sure how Blan is going to manage without having Parker around next year when they're no longer in school together. There is little that makes him happier than spending time with his best friend. How it blesses my heart to watch them laugh and play! Thank you, God for our friends.

Happy 90th Birthday, Mema!!

Mema's entire family recently gathered at her home church to celebrate her 90 wonderful years. We had a covered dish lunch afterward (why don't we do that every Sunday - talk about good eating!) It was a really nice chance to catch up with family not often seen. I am so thankful to celebrate another birthday milestone with my precious Mema. She is my last living grandmother and an absolute treasure. Here's to her 95th in 2013!

The last time we had a big birthday party for Mema my cousin, Allison and I were VERY pregnant with our boys (Julian is 11 days older than Blan). Here they are together five years later.
